Shi Long Lang ~ Lang Zi Says! (SP Arr.)

SKAPASTA's HQ AAI Arrangements

If you've played ANTONBLAST, you probably know how much Best Service's Brass Super Section shows up in the game. If the name doesn't ring a bell, maybe "the saxophone in Dynamite Man" will.
I wanted to use this sample pack myself after finding out about it, and so why not pick a song with a very prominent, leading sax? It turned out to be a whole lotta fun messing around with it, it just sounds so good. The part that wasn't fun however, was the distorted guitars.
I'm no fan of picking up VSTs that make you install the distributor's VST library dashbord thing just to use it, so I cut corners and used a couple guitar soundfonts. I tried my darndest to find some that sound good, and thankfully, they get the job done, but perhaps one day I'll give this track the proper guitar treatment it deserves.

Attack of the Toybots - Main Menu
(SP Arr.)

This was a cover made entirely on a whim. Wasn't something I thought about for weeks beforehand, I just opened FL Studio and went "Eh... why not?"
One difficult part to realize was that guitar, off to the left side. I spent a while looking for samples that actually sounded good, and matched the original song's pitch shifts.

The Rhythm of the Flop

The Rhythm of the Flop (Single)

My very first wholly original song!
I was working in FL Studio on an entirely different song when I got the inspiration for this, and just stopped was I was doing to go work on that instead. I was so invested in where it was going that I just pulled an all-nighter composing it.
My favorite part about this song is definitely that brass hit sample. It was used in WarioWare, inc.: Mega Party Game$!, and I've spent a couple years trying to track the original sample down so I could use it myself.
At the time of making this song, I still hadn't found the original sample, so what I opted to do was just cut it out of one of the WarioWare songs that use it. It was only AFTER I'd completely wrapped everything up that I found the original sample. ZERO-G Datafile Disc 3: Hit 16.wav.
If you were lookin' for it too, you're welcome.

Odd Folk (SP Arr.)

SKAPASTA's HQ AAI Arrangements

A second foray into using realistic instruments.
I'd been in the middle of playing Ghost Trick when I was working on this one, and the clavinet in Cabanela's theme influenced me enough to include one in this arrangement.
If I ever decide to go back and change anything about this, I would think about adding crunchier acoustic bass samples, and a few drawn out mouth harp samples to really drive home the feeling of "This guy's a total weirdo..."

Deduction ~ Crime Scene Contradictions
(SP Arr.)

SKAPASTA's HQ AAI Arrangements

A cover of one of my favorite songs from the Ace Attorney series, not only for its composition, but also for its length!
As for the project itself, this was sitting unfinished for probably over a year before I decided to complete it. I've never used realistic instruments when making music before, nor was I super experienced in mixing, so this song was a first for me in a couple ways. Despite my inexperience, I think this came out pretty good.

Katamari on the Rocks (MOTHER 3 cover)

A cover based off Korogashi Puzzle Katamari Damacy's arrangement of Katamari on the Rocks.
The taiko-ish sounding instrument was straight outta KPKD, but every other instrument is that of MOTHER 3's sound banks. One thing I've learned while making this is that Katamari on the Rocks has a crazy catchy bassline. One of the coolest I've ever heard.

Cross-Examination ~ Allegro 2004
(AAI cover)

SKAPASTA's AAI SF2 Remixes

An arrangement of Allegro 2004 using the Ace Attorney Investigations soundfont. I think it sounds a little lacking, personally, but there's not really much else I could add to this, so as far as I'm concerned, it's finished.

Mario's Super Picross - Wario Puzzle 1
(Wario Land 4 cover)

This cover was inspired by beco's unused arrangement of the same song in his hack, Wario Land 4: Parallel World.
I really wanted to hear a complete version, so I just made it myself.

Wario Land II - Perfect!
(Wario Land 4 cover)

I think I listened to the Smash Remix arrangement of this song, and got obsessed with it, leading me to cover the song myself -- which, if I remember correctly, I finished in a single day.
Apparently sounds a dolphin in a ball pit.

Announce the Truth 2002 (AAI cover)

SKAPASTA's AAI SF2 Remixes

An arrangement of one of my favorite Announce the Truth themes. Tried some detuning on the vocal pads, and added a piano section for flair.

MAPPY - Main Theme
(WarioWare + MOTHER 3 cover)

MAPPY! My favorite classic Namco arcade title. I love how ragtime-y the original song sounds.
My whole motive more making this (which is a really common case for me), is that I had a hunch that the Wario Land 4 honky-tonk would sound great for a song like this, and lo and behold, it does!
My arrangement is also detuned by -50 cents for a more authentic sound.

Outta My Way! ...It's Happy Hour!
(WarioWare, inc. cover)

Without a doubt my most popular arrangement.
This was finished about a month after the final version of It's Happy Hour was published to YouTube in 2023, but since then I've gone back and made changes to this SEVERAL times throughout 2024.
I'm proud of it, but I think with this current version I can finally let it rest.

Cold Spaghetti (WarioWare, inc. cover)

The original Cold Spaghetti used a good bit of Wario Land 4's instrumentation, so why not go all the way, 'n crank the Wario-ness up to 11?

Recipe for Turnabout (AAI Cover)

SKAPASTA's AAI SF2 Remixes

A short, but sweet cover of the intro theme to Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations' Recipe for Turnabout using the instrumentation of Ace Attorney Investigations.

Super Punch Out!! - Minor Circuit
(AAI cover)

A cover of Super Punch Out!!'s Minor Circuit theme.
If the brass samples in the Ace Attorney Investigations soundfont weren't so crummy, I actually might've finished this one.

Sewer Slam (Wario Land 4 cover)

A cover of Antonball Deluxe's Sewer Slam.
Sure, it may be a nearly finished cover, but I really couldn't care less about seeing it through. I was never all that serious about it in the first place.

Bonanza Elegy (AAI cover)

A cover of Bonanza Elegy from Bonanza Bros.
Despite labelling it a scrap, I do want to go back and finish this one day.

Fly Like a Butterfly (MOTHER 3 cover)

A cover of Hideki Naganuma's Fly Like a Butterfly.
The voice samples were pulled from the Nintendo DS version of Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing.

YTPMV Snurch

Not necessarily "scrapped," moreso just a little novelty audio clip of an idea that wouldn't leave my head. I never intended to make more than what's here.

lff3segue.wav

My first ever experience of using a proper DAW was making a cover of one of the Question 3 segues from YOU DON'T KNOW JACK: Louder, Faster, Funnier using the trial version of FL Studio back in 2020. Because I used the trial version, this is the only remnant of this ever happening. The project file is forever lost to time (or rather, never existed in the first place?).
